In terms of Security, Are We Safe in Sierra Leone?
I stand to be corrected. Sierra Leoneans have been facing fear in some cases as far as safety is concern. In the past few years to weeks ago, there were series of alleged killings by some suspected villains, leaving the victim families in sunken hearts. Previously, there were cases of murders in courts, but later proved to be natural deaths and the perpetrators went scot free.
A case of Kadijah that was attributed to ’bondo’ society case, another case was a Fullah little girl who was alleged to have been raped by her teacher, and later killed. The recent case is about the kids that lost their lives at the Pentecostal Pre-Paratory Primary School on Forth Street, Central part of Freetown.
What baffles me most is the lack of preventive method that supposed to prevent these ugly incidents to happen in the first place. One may look at these issues as paramount as anything in life. There are several investigations that geared to the bottom of these cases to get clear pictures of what really taken place. Some cases under gone post-mortem, to attest the real courses of the deaths of these mentioned incidents.
One may wonder on how someone can go to bed with one eye closed. Are we dreaming for safety as far as security is concern? We are appealing to the authority concern to swiftly review their thoughts and minds to see that all perpetrators of these nature be brought to book for others to learn a lesson.
I pretty sure of security all over Sierra Leone, but the lapses remain on the out-come of certain investigations. The victims and their families suffer the brunt of these barbaric villains when they go scot free after the losses of lives. “Kill dog na dog eye, mek he know say die dae, in Krio.” In English, kill a dog in the presence of a dog to let the dog know that there is death.
