Big Corruption exposed at USL Business Center

One of the symbols of corruptions in the former University administration is the Business Center. Set up originally to help generate some necessary revenue to help with the cost of running the university, the Business Center has now become a questionable business case. From a promising prospect for the university’s financial future, to a symbol of dysfunction, corruption and possible collusion.
It is quite disturbing to know the role the university’s Business Centre has played in all of these scandalous revelations, reportedly managed by an unqualified individual who functioned simultaneously as vendor and procurement facilitator—a textbook case of conflict of interest. This begs the question: Who appointed her, and under what authority? Despite repeated requests, no financial statements have been submitted to the current administration to explain the Centre’s financial activities. Yet, the Centre’s operators continue to boast of profitability—without presenting a single shred of evidence to substantiate those claims. What exactly are they trying to hide?

But perhaps the most revealing indicator of dysfunction is this: official queries addressed to the Business Centre head were not answered by the individual in question, but instead by the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor of COMAHS—a figure controversially appointed as Pro VC by the former administration and university court. Why is a senior administrator responding on behalf of someone else? Is this just deflection—or the clearest sign yet of a coordinated effort to shield financial irregularities and keep a compromised system tightly under control? Even more troubling, our investigation has uncovered that the Business Centre Manager also serves as the Finance Officer of the Research Office at COMAHS—an unusual dual role that places her directly under the influence of the same DVC. Is this overlap a coincidence—or part of a carefully engineered network of unchecked power and concealed dealings?
Such is the scale of the level of collusion and possible corruption with the Busines Center that it hard to see how it can be viable. There are also questions about who was or is still benefiting from the proceeds that the center is making.
All of these revelations came out in independent reports that were done by sub-committees, The University has for decades positioned itself as a premier learning institution in the country and abroad, but the latest revelation has shown how deep the rot of corruption had spread and the complicity of senior university officials in all of it.

Minister Wurie has been praised for her bravery to take on these corrupt elites and clean up the system, restoring the dignity and integrity of the university. In the coming weeks, there are more cases of corruption, collusion and dysfunction under the former University administration that will be highlighted by this press, to show the extent of the damage they did to the public reputation of the university.
